World health Day is dedicated towards raising awareness about several diseases and celebrating the global and widespread achievements of medical and healthcare faculties. Health isn’t all about a person’s physical well-being but also about an individual’s mental and social well-being. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a person is said to be healthy only if he or she possesses all of the three before-mentioned aspects. World Health Organization says that a person’s health is the most central aspect of his or her wellness and happiness. Healthy people also make a considerable contribution to the world’s economic progress as they are considered to be much more productive and they also live longer when compared to others.
Numerous people lose their lives after falling prey to several deadly diseases every year. Hence, World Health Day is celebrated in order to spread awareness about these diseases and also about the overall health and well-being of every person.
World Health Day is celebrated on the 7th of April every year. Each year the celebrations proceed as per a particular decided theme. The theme for this year is ‘Building a Fairer, Healthier World.’ This highlights World Health Organisation’s constitutional principle that states, “the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, and political belief, economic or social condition."
