After a pretty long wait, Tesla has finally arrived in India. Elon Musk's electric vehicle giant Tesla has officially registered with the Registrar of Companies in India at its branch in Bengaluru. Tesla's branch in Bengaluru is located at the Richmond junction opposite the Bangalore club.
According to the data available with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Ltd has been incorporated on the 8th of January in Bengaluru.
The directors of the Bengaluru branch of Tesla are Vaibhav Taneja, Venkatrangam Sreeram, and David Jon Feinstein. Vaibhav Taneja is the Chief Accounts Officer at Tesla Inc. David Jon Feinstein is the Global Senior Director, Trade Market Access at Tesla. As per the official reports, the company has been registered with an authorized capital of rupees 1.5 crore and a paid-up capital of rupees 100,000.
The Chief Minister of Bengaluru BS Yediyurappa also took to his official social media account and congratulated and welcomed Elon Musk to Bengaluru. He tweeted, "Karnataka will lead India's journey towards green mobility. Electric Vehicle Manufacturer Tesla will soon start its operations in India with an R&D unit in Bengaluru. I welcome @elonmusk to India and Karnataka and wish him all the very best.
Karnatak industries minister Jagdish Shettar told TOI, "While the firm has now registered, there is still no clarity on what they would do here. This is the first step and our officials led by the principal secretary are in constant dialogue with the firm. The government is prepared to extend all kinds of support to the firm."
Principle secretary of commerce and industries of Karnataka Gaurav Gupta was quoted saying, "Interacting with Tesla for the last few months and it is happy news that they have decided to incorporate their company here. We have impressed upon them that Bengaluru is not only the technology capital but also the aerospace and space capital. For any kind of technology collaboration, it has the right kind of talent pool."
