Veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee's health condition refuses to improve since the past few weeks. Despite receiving blood transfusion on Sunday due to sudden considerable fluctuation in his haemoglobin count, Soumitra Chatterjee's health remains critical. The doctor who is treating him said that due to comorbidities and his age, his constantly fluctuating health has been a serious cause of concern for those who are operating on him. 85-year-old Soumitra Chatterjee was admitted to the private hospital Belle Vue Clinic in Kolkata after contracting the novel coronavirus.
The doctor confirmed that the celebrated actor was given a blood transfusion after his haemoglobin level fluctuated considerably on Sunday. This was due to internal bleeding. The doctor said, “His bleeding part is not contained or controlled fully. His haemoglobin is fluctuating. We had to transfuse four units of blood. We had to do a CT to find out his exact internal bleeding location. We are trying to seal the bleeding spot which is yet to be fully successful.”
The doctors have ascertained that they are trying to ‘optimise’ Soumitra Chatterjee's organ functions. Besides this, his neurological health has not been completely treated to the point of recovery. The doctors said that this is the main reason behind Soumitra Chatterjee's general non-improvement consciousness status. The veteran actor has been on a ventilator since the last week.
On the bright side, the doctors treating Soumitra Chatterjee affirmed that his organ functions are holding on. He is putting on urine and the oxygen levels in his body are also satisfactory. The doctors informed that they were considering giving Soumitra Chatterjee another dialysis. This will be the third dialysis since Wednesday.
Due to the two sessions id dialysis received by Soumitra Chatterjee, his vital parameters are stable for the time being. Nevertheless, the actor's lungs are doing fine and the infection level is not that bad.
