Iconic veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee was admitted to a hospital after testing positive for the coronavirus infection.
Soumitra Chatterjee contracted the coronavirus infection and tested positive this morning. He was later admitted to the Belle Vue Hospital in Kolkata. The decision to admit him came after he tested positive for COVID-19. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ordered to enquire into his case.
Soumitra Chatterjee is Bengal's most celebrated actor. He is widely known for her collaborations with Satyajit Ray. They worked on a total of 14 films together. He debuted in the year 1959 with the movie “Apur Sansar.”
Some of his other movies are “Charulata”, “Devi”, “Teen Kanya” and “ Ganshatru.”
Soumitra Chatterjee is the first actor to play the widely acclaimed role of “Feluda”, the detective created by Satyajit Ray.
He has been decorated with the Padma Bhushan and Sangeet Natak Akademi Tagore Ratna. He also received the Dadsaheb Phalke award in 2012.
Soumitra Chatterjee received France's Legion of Honour in 2018. It is the country's top civilian award.
Social media was flooded with messages for his speedy recovery. His condition is much stable right now with a mild fever and no other symptoms. He was last seen shooting for a docu-feature. He resumed shooting for his upcoming projects after the lockdown ended.
Many Tollywood celebrities took to their twitter handles and wished him a speedy recovery. Celebrities like Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rukmini Maitra, and Dev took to their Twitter accounts and sent Soumitra Chatterjee “get-well-soon” messages.
