Sonu Sood, who brought home thousands of migrant laborers and those trapped in different parts of the country during the lockdown, will now help the poor children. He has started a scholarship in the name of his mother Saroj Sood, which will be given to poor children for their education.

How did the idea come?

In a conversation, Sonu said, "During the last few months, I saw that people living a financial life have to struggle a lot for the education of their children. Some do not have phones to attend online classes. Some have no money to pay fees. So I tied up with universities across the country to start a scholarship in the name of my mother Professor Saroj Sood".

Saroj used to give free education

Sonu Sood further said, "Mother used to give free education in Punjab. She told me to go ahead with his work. I felt that this is the right time (after lockdown and Coronavirus)". Sonu Sood's scholarship will be available for courses such as Medicine, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Auto-Motion Cyber Securities, Data Science, Fashion and Business Studies.

Sonu says, "Students coming from families whose annual income is less than two lakh rupees can apply for the scholarship. The only condition is that their academic record should be good. All their expenses, such as hostel fees and even food will be our responsibility".

He has shared a poster announcing the scholarship in a tweet, in which he has given information about the scholarship. At the same time, he wrote, "Hindustaan Badhega Tabhi, Jab Padhenge Sabhi!  Launching full scholarships for students for higher education. I believe financial challenges should not stop anyone from reaching their goals. Send in your entries at scholarships@sonusood.me (in next 10 days) & I will reach out to you".
