Britain’s Prince Harry and his American-born wife Meghan Markle officially launched their new careers in Hollywood on Wednesday. The couple signed a multiyear deal with Netflix Inc. to produce “impactful” films and series for the streaming giant.

The couple, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, already has several projects in development. Projects already in production include a nature documentary series and an animated series that celebrates inspiring women, Netflix said.

The two have a plan to produce content on stories and issues that “resonate with them personally”. The content will also include things that their non-profit Archewell is working on, said the streaming giant.

“Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope,” the couple said in the statement. “As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us, as is powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens.”

Harry and Meghan stepped back from their royal duties in the United Kingdom and moved to California earlier this year.

“Our lives, both independent of each other and as a couple, have allowed us to understand the power of the human spirit: of courage, resilience, and the need for connection,” the pair said in the joint statement.

Harry and Meghan will produce a wide range of works including scripted and documentary series and documentary films. Their works will also include scripted features and children’s programming.

Meghan, who is a former star of the cable series “Suits”, doesn’t plan to return to acting under the deal.
