Parth Jindal expresses disappointment over captain Shreyas Iyer's dismissal. Shreyas Iyer is the captain and considered the trusted batsman of the Delhi Capitals cricket team. The reason for his dismissal is his injury which occurred while fielding in the Pune match. In the first ODI of the 3-match series against England, Shreyas Iyer's shoulder was dislocated due to which he had to leave the field.
He dived at the ball of fast bowler Shardul Thakur to stop Samyenny Bairstow's shot, but the balance was snapped and his shoulder got dislocated. He was holding his shoulder while exiting the field. His pain and the intensity of his injury was clearly visible at the field. When Iyer was taken off the field and sent for a scan, it was revealed that he has Labrum tears on his shoulder. This unexpected incident is a big disappointment for Delhi Capitals because in his captaincy only last year the team made their position in the finals.
According to the sources from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, “He is unlikely to play in the first half of the IPL”.
Delhi capitals team co owner Parth Jindal tweeted “Absolutely devastated and gutted for our skipper @ShreyasIyer15 - stay strong captain - hope for a very quick recovery. Have full faith that you will come back even stronger from this. India needs you in the T20 World Cup,".
Board of Control for Cricket in India has not given any official statement regarding the comeback of Shreyas Iyer but the scan reports show a tear which predicts that the captain will face surgery which can keep him away from the field for a while. There is a possibility that Shikhar Dhawan or Rishab Pant can get the lead of the team in the absence of the captain if he fails to be there in the upcoming matches.
