A police complaint has been filed against Actress turned Producer Anushka Sharma for a scene in the Amazon Prime web series 'Paatal Lok'.

Actually, BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh Nandkishore Gurjar has filed a police complaint against Anushka Sharma. His objection is to a scene shown in 'Paatal Lok', in which an edited clipping of a newspaper uses the face of a BJP leader.

Gurjar has accused Anushka of showing Sanatan Dharma’s castes in a negative light.

According to the BJP leader, in the real clipping that has been edited, the BJP leader is seen standing behind Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. While using it as a reference in the film's fictional story, the chief minister has been replaced by the series' Bahubali leader Balakrishna Vajpayee (Anoop Jalota), but the rest have been shown the same.

In the midst of this controversy, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri shared the clipping of this on Twitter and wrote, "This may not sound like a big news to many. Many in Bollywood will laugh it out and say what’s the big deal. Ok, ask them a question - What if someone makes a film and uses Anushka or Virat’s photo in the group of a Villain’s flunkies?"

Paatal Lok was released on Amazon Prime recently. The story of this series, directed by Prasit Roy and Avinash Arun, is based on the investigation into the plot to assassinate a prime time journalist.
