The last few months have been quite good for the automobile industry in India. Almost every automobile manufacturing company has reported positive sales in every month with a significant rise in sales in October as opposed to the same period in the last year. Statistics say this is due to the improved buying sentiment in the festive season this year. This comes as a huge boom for the automobile sector which had a rather gloomy 2020 due to several factors. However, several new car launches have played a significant role in stimulating the automobile market in the past few months. Now, let’s take a look at the upcoming new car launches in December 2020.

1. Nissan Magnite

Nissan Magnite is one of the most promising products the Japanese carmaker has ever launched in India. It’s a sub-compact SUV scheduled to be launched on 2nd December. It’s expected to rival cars like Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Breeza, Hyundai Venue, etc. The Magnite has an eye-catching design and features an eight-inch touchscreen, a fully digital instrument panel, wireless phone charging pad, automatic AC, rear AC vents, cruise control, push button stop/start, ambient lighting, puddle lamp, tyre pressure monitoring, etc.

The Nissan Magnite will be available in two variants of petrol engines – a 1.0 litre naturally aspirated unit and a 1.0 litre turbocharged powerplant. The naturally aspirated engine delivers a 71 bhp, 96 Nm of peak torque and is available with a five-speed manual gearbox only. On the other hand, the turbocharged engine delivers a 99 bhp with 160 Nm when coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox and 99 bhp with 152 Nm when coupled to a CVT automatic gearbox.

2. Audi S5 Sportback

The Audi S5 Sportback was first teased during the launch of Q2 SUV in India. It features a 3.0 litre TFSI petrol engine that develops 349 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. This engine will be paired to an eight speed Tiptronic automatic transmission which will push the coupe from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds. Audi S5 Sportback is also loaded with modern gadgetry like a wide touchscreen system, digital instrument cluster, multi zone AC, multiple driving modes, etc.

3. Force Gurkha

The new Force Gurkha was showcased at Auto Expo 2020 and is expected to launch this year. Though the SUV looks similar to the previous model but the new LED DRLs gives it a dashing modern look. It sports a new radiator grille, new front bumper and redesigned tail lights. Along with these, the flared wheel arches, side cladding and mud terrain tyres complement the SUV’s off roading purpose. This new model also features a touchscreen, new instrument panel, AC, front power windows, dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, reverse parking sensors, etc. The SUV will be powered with a BS6 variant 2.6 litre diesel engine that delivers 89 bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque. It will be coupled to a five-speed gearbox only. The Gurkha 2020 will have a 4X4 drivetrain, a transfer case with three modes – 4X2High, 4X4High or 4X4Low along with differential locks for front and rear axles.

4. Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine

Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. It was planned to be launched in June this year but it was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. It is the entry level sedan in the German carmaker’s India lineup. It features a MBUX system, adaptive cruise control, park assist system, lane change assist, blind-spot assist, seven airbags, ABS, EBD, etc. The all new A-Class sedan sports a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine which delivers a 185 bhp and 185 Nm of peak torque. This engine is coupled to a seven speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
