A Mumbai Court has asked the Police to file an FIR against Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel for allegedly trying to spark communal tensions through their provocative tweets. Casting director Sahil Ashrafali Sayyed filed a complaint on the basis of which a Bandra metropolitan magistrate Jaydeo Y Ghule passed the order to lodge a complaint against the sisters.
Sahil Ashrafalai, through his complaint, seeked directions for registration of an FIR under IPC Sections 153A (promoting enmity), 295A (malicious acts intended to outrage the religious feelings), 124A (sedition)against the actress and her sister.
Sahil Ashrafali has allegedly accused Kangana Ranaut of defaming Bollywood by calling it a hub of nepotism, favoritism, etc. via interviews and tweets. Sahil Ahrafali said that Kangana Ranaut had also tweeted “very objectionable comments “ which had not only hurt his religious sentiment but also the feelings of many other artistes. He furthermore accused Kangana of dividing the Bollywood on the basis of communal lines.
He said, “Her sister, too, has made objectionable comments on social media to spread communal tension between two religious groups. After revising the documents submitted by the complainant’s lawyer, the Court found that Kangana Ranaut had committed “cognizable offenses.” After this, the Court directed the Police to register an FIR against Kangana and her sister under relevant provisions of the CrPC.
The Court said, “Total allegations are based upon the comments made on electronic media- Twitter and interviews- and a thorough investigation by an expert is necessary.
Responding to this, Kangana Ranaut’s lawyer said that it is possible that Kangana's tweets might have been misinterpreted but refuted the charges pressed against her for spreading communal hatred.
Kangana’s advocate Rizwan Siddique said, “I will have to check the tweets mentioned in the court. The interpretation of the tweets which are being talked about may be wrong. “Mullah” means religious head, someone may think of maybe something else. Let me get the order copy only then I can comment on it.”
