The CID has filed a chargesheet in the murder of TMC MLA Satyajit Biswas in Nadia, West Bengal. BJP leader Mukul Roy has been also named in this charge sheet. The West Bengal CID has described him as a conspirator in the charge sheet. On Saturday, the CID filed a charge sheet in the ACJMC court of Ranaghat.
Mukul Roy's lawyer Suman Roy said that five people, including BJP leader Mukul Roy, and BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar, have been accused in the charge sheet. In March this year, Mukul Roy was interrogated by CID after which he got anticipatory bail from the Calcutta High Court.
On getting the name in the charge sheet, Mukul Roy said, "There are 44 cases against me, I am not worried. These people cannot arrest me. My name has been inserted in the charge sheet at the behest of Mamata Banerjee. I have full faith in the judiciary''.
At the same time, in the charge sheet, BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya wrote on the name of BJP leaders, tweeting, "Oppression of opposition leaders continues under Mamata Banerjee's conspiracy. Falsely accusing Mukul Roy of murder is an example of how the opposition is being suppressed in the state. What will they achieve by doing so?"
BJP MP from Ranaghat, Jagannath Sarkar has also named in the charge sheet. The government has also been questioned several times in this case.
Significantly, TMC MLA from Krishnaganj Satyajit Biswas was shot dead on February 9 last year. He was attending a program of worshiping Saraswati near his residence in Phulbari. During this time, he was shot and killed.
