West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is all set to hit the streets today to protest against the Hathras gang-rape case. The announcement was made after the Trinamool Congress MPs were shoved ad pushed when they tried to meet the victims family.

Mamata Banerjee is expected to lead the rally from Birla Planetarium to Gandhi Statue on Mayo Road.

Trinamool Congress MP Pratima Mondal and former Member of Parliament Mamatabala Thakur filed a complaint with Chandpa Police in Hathras. In the complaint, they alleged that they were misbehaved and were pushed and shoved around when they tried to meet the victim's family. Trinamool Congress's Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien was pushed to the ground when he asked a sub-divisional magistrate in plain clothes why he was misbehaving with women.

Trinamool Congress also mentioned that they will be sending a copy of the complaint to Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla. Both the complainants- Pratima and Mamatabala- belonged to the Scheduled Caste. Derek O'Brien said, "We had urged that two MPs will walk the one-kilometer stretch from where we were stopped to console the grieving family. It was not allowed. The entire world saw how we were manhandled, including Mondal, who is a sitting MP and belongs to the Scheduled Caste. We were aware of the Section 144 CrPC and urged that only two woman MP's be allowed. This is jungle-raj."

Lok Sabha MP's Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Sunil Mondal, Pratima, and Mamatabala reached Delhi after Mamata Banerjee termed the Hathras incident as "barbaric and shameful."

All of them reached Hathras in different hired b=vehicles. An MP said, "Due to security issues, we did not tell anyone of our destination." The MP's got out of their vehicles around a kilometer of the victim's home. When they tried to walk to her place, the Police blocked them.

The Trinamool Congress alleged in its complaint that SDM Prem Prakash Meena manhandled Pratima. In response to these allegations, Meena said, " The allegations are totally false."

Pratima, a two-time MP from Joynagar, said, "If Police can do this with me, a Lok Sabha MP, I should shudder to think what they will do to the poor and voiceless. On Mamata Banerjee's instructions, we had only wanted to meet the family. Is that a crime in UP?"

UP Minister, Siddharth Nath Singh, said, "The entire issue is being politicized and people are simply torturing Hathras. Derek is an amazing character of dramatics and has finally found a place in Hathras to exhibit his skills."
