Argentina star Lionel Messi on Friday confirmed he is not going anywhere but staying in Barcelona. From the last few days, rumors of Messi Leaving Barcelona were buzzing all over. After the humiliating defeat against the current champions league winner, Bayern Munich ( 8-2), Messi expressed his desire to leave Barca.

Messi will continue at Barcelona for the upcoming season

Messi said he would never want to drag the Catalans to court over the 700 million euro release clause, which had led to disagreement between both the parties. In an interview with Goal.com, Lionel Messi said he would be staying in Barcelona, and his attitude will never change despite his attempt to force an exit after Barca’s trophyless season in 2019-20. It all started when Messi last week sent a burofax to Barcelona, saying he was invoking a contract clause that allowed him to leave for free at the end of the season. However, Barcelona claimed that the clause had expired in June. Barcelona said it wanted Messi to stay until the end of his contract in June 2021. Messi’s father and agent, Jorge, had arrived in Barcelona earlier this week to discuss the transfer, but it seems the proceedings didn’t go as planned.

Messi Finally speaks out

Messi said, “ I will continue at Barca, and my attitude will not change no matter how much I have wanted to go. I will do my best. I always want to win, I’m competitive, and I don’t like to lose anything. I always want the best for the club, for the dressing room and myself,” regarding his transfer, Messi said, “ Now I am going to continue in the club because the president told me that the only way to leave was to pay the 700 million impossible clause.  Talking about the future of Barcelona, Messi said, “ I believe that the club needs more young players and new players.
