After Carnival and Seltos series, Kia motors is back with a new range of compact SUV range namely Sonet. With indigenous Made in India concept, the new series is being manufactured in Andhra Pradesh Plant. The new series has been released in India yesterday. The prices range from 6.71 lakhs to 11.99 lakhs.

New Sonet comes with 2 broad trims: Tech Line and GT Line. 6 variants have been released, out if which 5 are in Tech line, while one in Grey Line. HT lines include HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX and HTX+, whereas GTX+ is the top-spec variant included in Grey Line. Sleek colours such as Steel Silver, Gravity Grey, Aurora Black, Clear White and Red are available.
Sonet comes with a couple of petrol engine variants. These are Smatstream 1.2 litre and Smatstream 1.0Zlitre.However, another variant in diesel powertrain option with 1.5 litre caipicity is also available. The series comes with 3 engines and 5 transmission options. The 1.2 litre petrol engine has been linked with 5 manual transmission options with claimed mileage of 18.4kmpl. 1 litre petrol variant contains 6i MT unit with 7-speed DCT unit with mileage of 18.2kmpl. NA petrol engine produces torque of 115Nm and power 81bhp. The turbo petrol engine produces torque of 172Nm and power of 117bhp. The diesel variant have a 6-speed manual unit and 6-speed torque convertor. The 2 models in diesel variant come with 19.0kmpl and 24.1kmpl mileage. The contoured bumpers provide a sporty look to the car, somewhat similar to Ecosport.
The exterior of the brand new Sonet includes Tiger Nose Grill, Reflector Strips with 16-inch multicolored alloy wheels. Rear diffuser and LED tail lights are also available. LED frontlamps with LED DRLs and fog lamps are also available.
Interior: The real strength
The interior features of the series prove to be the real hitter and a complete compact SUV package. The 10.25 inch HD LED touchscreen with Bose premium 7 speaker sound system gives complete entertainment support while a drive. Wireless smartphone charger with cooking function , Smart pure air purifier and front ventilated seats are another top features of the utility vehicle. The UVO technology gives 57 connectivity features along with sunroof. LED sound mode lighting is also available.
For security purpose, Sonet has done much more efforts than its earlier segments. 6 airbags, Hill start assist, break assist, ABS with EBD, Electric Stability Control and Vehicle Stability Management all are present. Front and Rear Parking Sensors with Tyre Pressure Monitoring System are also available.
Summarizing all, Sonet series comes with an improvised version of its prior segments. Power packed with all premium features, the new car is sure set to get a good competition with the already present rivals. The list includes Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV 3000.
