ANI reported that actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel have been summoned by the police next week concerning the FIR filed against them at a Bandra Police Station. According to ANI, Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli Chandel have been charged for sedition that is Section 124A of the Indian Penal Code. The sisters have been summoned on 26th and 27th October.

The Bandra metropolitan magistrate had ordered the police to register a complaint against Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli Chandel after Bollywood’s casting director and fitness trainer Munawwar Ali had filed a complaint. His complaint referred to Kangana and Rangoli’s tweets and statements.

According to the complainant’s lawyer, the FIR alleged that Kangana Ranaut had been constantly defaming Bollywood for over two months now. She has called it a “hub of nepotism”, “favoritism” and much more through her various interviews and tweets. Her sister Rangoli Chandel had also passed objectionable comments on social media to spread communal hatred and tension between religious groups, he said.

Kangana Ranaut made headlines with her battle with the ruling party of Maharashtra Shiv Sena. She also talked about Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case and the alleged ‘lawlessness’ in the state. Her fight with Shiv Sena escalated after she made a comparison of India’s capital with Pakistan occupied Kashmir and claimed that she was ‘scared’ to live there. Responding to this, Shiv Sena and NCP’s Anil Deshmukh suggested that if she was ‘scared’ to live there then she should probably quit living there.

Kangana Ranaut’s office’s demolition by the BMC also fueled the row between her and Shiv Sena. The Mumbai civic authorities had earlier demolished her posh office at Pali Hills in Bandra because it violated fourteen rules. After this, Kangana Ranaut had filed a Rs 2 crore compensation claim. In her petition, she claimed that the demolition of her posh office was a direct result of her comments against the Maharashtra government.
