The BCCI hosted the 13th season of the IPL in the UAE and now is gearing up to increase the number of franchises in 2021. The BCCI Annual General Meeting will be held on December 24 to discuss the inclusion of two new teams.
Ahmedabad has been named for the 9th IPL team. It is expected that Ahmedabad's Motera Stadium will be the ninth venue of the IPL. Apart from this, the names of Kanpur and Lucknow for the tenth team are discussed.
At the annual meeting, the views of all the state organizations will be known. After that, two new teams will be decided. The agenda will also decide on the election of a new vice president. In general, the BCCI has sent a 23-point agenda to all concerned parties 21 days before the BCCI AGM. The most important point is that the two new teams should be approved to form a ten-team IPL.
It is understood that the Adani Group and Sanjeev Goenka's RPSG (owner of Rising Pune Supergiants) are keen to own the new teams in IPL 2021. Another important point is that BCCI Representative Secretary to the ICC and the Asian Cricket Council, Jay Shah, is expected to be the BCCI's representative on world committees.
India's 2021 Future Tours program, preparations for next year's T20 World Cup and the inclusion of cricket in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics are on the agenda. The main point on the administrative agenda is to elect a new vice-president, a post that has remained vacant since Mahim Verma's resignation.
The choice is expected to be unanimous. Also, two representatives of the governing body will get seats in the IPL's governing council.
