IPL 2021 Auction is scheduled on February 18

The IPL 2021 Auction, which is the most awaited part for the masses, is scheduled to take place on February 18, Thursday. The Auction will be taking place in Chennai, at 1500 hours Indian Standard Time (IST). The event will be telecasted in India on all the channels of the Star Sports Network. In addition to this, the entire event of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction will be live-streamed on Hotstar. The live updates can also be viewed on sports.ndtv.com.

This time, a total of 1,114 players had registered for the IPL 2021 Auction, but the final list of 292 players was created on the basis of what was shortlisted and submitted by the eight franchises namely, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
This time, Kings XI Punjab will enter the event with the biggest purse of INR 53.20 crore and on the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad will have the smallest purse of INR 10.75 crore. The maximum base price of any player would be INR 2 crore. There are ten players, including two Indians, in this category.  Since the teams have released some of their players, this time a lot of big players would be under the hammer. Some of them are Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Kedar Jadhav, David Malan, and Glenn Maxwell.

Glenn Maxwell gave quite a disappointing performance in the previous season of IPL. However, he proved to be very crucial in the Big Bash League (BBL). Steve Smith, who was the captain of RR, was released by the team. He has always been a great player and all teams would be waiting for him. Kedar Jadhav too was an average performer in IPL 2020, but his experience and all-rounder skills make him a huge asset. Shakib is a great batsman, and a left-arm spinner making him crucial for any team. David Malan will make his debut this season but his performance in the international T-20 matches brings him in huge demand.
In addition, there are many more players that the teams would be very happy to buy in the IPL 2021 Auction.
