Australia had already won the series by winning both the opening matches of the series. The ODI series ended 2–1 in favor of Australia as India won today's match. Hardik Pandya was adjudged man of the Match, whereas Steve Smith was declared Man of the Series.
This is India's first ODI win in Canberra. Earlier, India had played 2 ODIs at this ground and had to face defeat in both. It is also Australia's first defeat on the ground.
After a horrible start, India were 152 for 5. Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 92 off 76 balls and Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 66 off 50 balls. Both shared an unbeaten 150-run partnership for the sixth wicket, which powered the visitors to pass the 300-mark. The duo changed gears in the last 6 overs where they added 86 runs. Apart from these two, Virat Kohli scored 63 off 78 balls.
Ashton Agar took 2 wickets for 44 runs from Australia. Apart from him, Josh Hazlewood, Sean Abbott, Adam Zampa scalped a wicket each.
Captain Aaron Finch was the highest scorer for Australia. Finch scored 75 off 82 balls and gave a flying start. The chase looked comfortable as Glenn Maxwell also batted quickly. Maxwell scored 59 off 38 balls before he was cleaned up by Jasprit Bumrah.
Shardul Thakur was the most successful bowler for India. He took 3 wickets for 51 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and debutant T Natarajan took 2 wickets each.
