Howrah: Swab Samples Come In, 10 Out Of 100 Test Positive

At least 10 people of the total 100 swab samples collected from the Golabari police station area in Kolkata have tested positive.

Howrah district & municipal corporation authorities jointly visited Golabari area & collected 100 swab samples for Covid-19. They also did thermal screening & disinfection using handheld devices during the visit.

The Joint operations team conducted,

  • IR Gun thermal screening
  • Took swab samples
  • Conducted disinfection using handheld devices.

Since the area is extremely congested, testing was rapidly done, where 10% of the results came out positive.

CMOH, Howrah, Bhabani Das said, "With a high positive rate of 10 per cent having come up from just one locality, has got the HMC thinking about immediate joint operations in almost all areas of the city."

At least 9 wards of the HMC are the most sensitive wards of the city. 15, 27, 29, 30, 31, 34, 36, 39, 40 and 46 wards have been considered sensitive.

Health workers are moving door to door and sample collections are intensified. “The HMC has appealed to private doctors to volunteer their services at the primary health centres. This is the right time to donate services and we will gratefully accept. They just need to drop a mail and we will connect,” said D Jain, commissioner of HMC.
