The highly awaited schedule for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League 2020 has been released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India ( BCCI ) on its official website. As per the recently released fixtures, the defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on Chennai Super Kings in the opening encounter of the season.
All the preparations so far
The 13th edition of the IPL is all set to start from September 19th and will continue till November 10th. This edition of the IPL will be played across three venues Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai in the UAE. The tournament will be played throughout 56 days. Eight teams will vie for the top prize and the coveted IPL title. There will be ten doubleheaders with the first match starting at 3:30 PM IST and 2:00 PM UAE time. All evening matches will begin at 7:30 PM IST and 6:00 PM UAE time. In all, 24 games will be held in Dubai, 20 in Abu Dhabi, and 12 in Sharjah. Venues for the playoffs and the Dream11 IPL 2020 final will be announced later. All eight teams have already arrived in the UAE after undergoing thorough testing and quarantine protocols at their respective camps and bases in India.
Commentators shortlisted from India
The thirteenth edition of the Dream11 IPL 2020 will witness the first sort with the high profile money-spinning league being held behind closed doors and in a biosecure environment amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Indian government gave its nod for the BCCI to stage the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League in the UAE after considering the ground scenario of the COVID pandemic in the nation. Meanwhile, BCCI has also shortlisted seven Indian commentators for IPL. As per reports, the seven commentators include Sunil Gavaskar, Murli Karthik, Deep Dasgupta, L Sivaramakrishnan, Anjum Chopra, Rohan Gavaskar, and Harsha Bhogle. All the shortlisted commentators will leave for the UAE on September 10th.
