Coronavirus cases in India cross 60 lakh mark

India recently crossed sixty lakh mark in the corona virus cases. Over a thousand number of deaths were also reported in the last twennnty four hours.This has pushed the total number of deaths in India due to the coronavirus past ninety-five thousand.

The government data showed on Sunday that more than 82,000 cases of COVID-19 were reported in India in the last twenty-four hours.

The total number of recoveries that had been reported in the last twenty-four hours is around 74,893. This has taken the total tally of recoveries in India to fifty lakh.

Out of 60,74,703 cases, India presently has 9,62,640 active cases, while  50,16,521 have been successfully recovered and discharged.

While new infections continue to rise, the Kerala Government has decided to enable stricter measures in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Globally, India has the second-highest number of coronavirus cases. It stands behind the United States, where the cases crossed the seven million mark last week. However, India has topped the global chart in terms of recoveries.

As the infections in India reached the six million mark, the coronavirus cases from across the world have topped the thirty- three million mark. The official death toll has reached near the mark of 1 million. Around 9.96 lakh people have succumbed to the coronavirus.

The Union Health Ministry of India launched a web portal on Monday. The web portal is meant for providing all important information on COVID-19. The information includes live updates of active cases and recoveries, vaccine development, clinical trials, and progress made in this area locally as well as globally. According to a Health Ministry Statement, the “vaccine web portal” and “National Clinical Registry for COVID-19” have been developed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). It was launched by the Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan.
