‘Safe experience’: With cinema halls likely to open, PVR ready with the new normal to resume services

As the country prepares for the Unlock 3.0 stage amidst the coronavirus crisis, the experience of watching a movie in theaters will completely change as audiences must follow the new rules. PVR Cinemas is all set to bring back cinema fans to the cinemas.

At the beginning of August, the Ajay Bijli Theater Chain, which has invested approximately 6 crores in all properties to take hygiene and safety measures, hopes that the theaters will reopen at the end of September. Gautam Dutta, CEO, PVR Cinemas told Zee News that the public is now adapting and understanding the new normal.

He said, "Attention will be given to physical distance. According to the group size, one seat will remain free and there will be no loss from empty seats. The ticket price will not bounce. We are thinking of giving discounts as soon as the cinema goes open. We plan to offer discounted tickets through a promotional offer for the first 2-4 weeks".

In addition to his, PVR has also devised a contactless transaction system where the customer has to scan QR codes via his cell phone camera that are available at multiple touchpoints to book tickets and then order food and drinks themselves.

FMCG company Reckitt Benckiser's brand Dettol tied up with PVR Cinemas to help film screenings in a safe manner. Reckitt Benckiser said in a statement that the government guidelines when the theaters will open According to it, it will help the company to show the film safely to the people in the theaters of PVR. This partnership will help to develop protocols related to cleanliness in theaters for audiences, to develop a framework for ensuring cleanliness in theaters. PVR Cinemas are currently 175 in number in 70 cities of the country
