‘Badshah’ of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan looks to conquer the World Cricket League arena, buys LA Knight Riders. One can never forget the promise he made on the Marine Drive during his struggling days, “One day, I will own this city”. It won’t be wrong to say that he did so with his acting prowess, in fact, went beyond the borders. He now looks to conquer the World Cricket League Arena, buys LA-based franchise before the inaugural edition of the MLC.

Major League Cricket looks to follow the footsteps of the successful Major League Soccer and is all set to become US’s first professional cricket T20 league. In a bid to extend the family of the Kolkata-based franchise, Shah Rukh’s LA-based franchise is named LA Knight Riders.

A statement in the report filed by Mumbai Mirror said, “For several years now, we have been expanding the Knight Riders brand globally, and closely watching the potential for T20 cricket in the USA. We are convinced that Major League Cricket has all the pieces in place to execute on its plan and we look forward to making our partnership an enormous success in the coming years.”

The LA Knight Riders will feature in the six-team T20 tournament in the US. Besides Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Washington DC, Chicago and Dallas are the six US-based teams that will compete in the inaugural season of the Major Cricket League.

SRK’s Love for Cricket!

As is evident from his enthusiasm on the field, he immensely loves the game. We have seen him supporting and being involved in the last two World Cups we won. And to bring to the lights of majority, SRK was a recipient of the 'Sword of Honour' in his school. The St. Columba’s school’s highest award, awarded to an excellent all-rounder student. Yes! Shah Rukh was not only good in studies but also the captain of school’s Hockey, Football and Cricket teams. We often saw him stating in his interviews that if not an actor, he may have been a sportsperson, maybe a cricketer.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, he suffered an initial shoulder injury which refrained him from being one. Fortunately for the world got a superstar because of it!

Knight Riders – A growing Family!

Starting from Kolkata Knight Riders in 2008 in the richly-led league IPL, the franchise never looked back since then. The franchise bought it’s second team Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in 2015. It was rebranded to Trinbago Knight Riders when Red Chillies took charge of its operations in 2016. Knight Riders franchise welcomed Cape Town Knight Riders in 2017 to the family in the T20 Global League. And now, with an aim to let Hollywood embrace the gentlemen’s game, SRK has bought LA Knight Riders. With the protruding step in the forthcoming Major League Cricket, Shah Rukh Khan looks to conquer the World Cricket League arena. And also leaving imprints of India across the globe representing our country with the ‘Brand SRK’.

This family is not only growing in numbers but in valuation also. Taking Kolkata Knight Rider's valuation alone, its valuation was estimated $104 million in 2018, second highest among IPL franchises. In 2019, their value was estimated at US$88 million.

With the recent addition of LA Knight Riders, the franchise is all set to grow in leaps and bounds. Whilst SRK is also set to adorn another feather on his entrepreneurial hat.
