Airtel slams Reliance Jio for its letter to TRAI

Anurag Gupta

Airtel slammed Reliance Jio for the compliant letter that was sent to the Telecom Authority of India (TRAI). Reliance Jio wrote into it that Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel are not following the ethics and are resorting to unethical ways and spreading rumours all over about Jio that it will gain from the Farm Bills.

Jio wants TRAI to take strict action against these two telecom operators. On 11th December, Jio blamed that its rivals for vicious campaign stating that “large number of port out requests, wherein the customers are citing this as the sole reason for porting out JIO without having any complaints or other issues related to Jio services. Jio’s letter was termed as of poor taste and asked TRAI to dismiss and throw out such complaint and seeing it as a contempt, the company must receive the punishment that it deserves.

The letter that was sent to Reliance Jio by Airtel is written below.

Dear Sir,
We have just been made aware through media about an outrageous compliant made to TRAI by Reliance Jio against Airtel. This complaint related to market activities in Punjab/ Haryana LSA that are purportedly encouraging customers to Port to Airtel. We wish to emphatically deny this baseless charge. Airtel has operated in the Telecom Industry for 25 years. During this period, we have completed hard in the market place and striven to serve our customers with excellence. At the same time we take great pride in treating our competitors and partners with respect. Despite being provoked by some competitors who we know will go to any length to make baseless allegations, adopt bullying tactics and use intimidatory behaviour we have always conducted our business with character and transparency something that we are deeply proud of and known for.

The current complaint therefore deserves to be dismissed and thrown out with the contempt that it deserves. It is in poor taste and is scurrilous to say the least.

Thanking You,

For Bharti Airtel Ltd.
