Private hospitals in Kolkata plan on Covid bed reduction

Three private hospitals in Kolkata are preparing to reduce the number of their non-critical Covid beds that had remained fully occupied till October but now have vacancies. 

 “There has been a proliferation of non-Covid admissions and planned surgeries, too, are happening more regularly now. The only way we can serve these patients is by raising the number of beds which is possible only if the Covid unit is squeezed,” said Sudipta Mitra, the CEO of Peerless Hospital

Singapore Woman Who Had Covid Gives Birth To Baby With Antibodies

A Singaporean woman, who was infected with the Covid-19 in March when she was pregnant, has given birth to a baby with antibodies against the virus. The baby was born this month without COVID-19 but with the virus antibodies, the Straits Times newspaper reported on Sunday. 

"My doctor suspects I have transferred my COVID-19 antibodies to him during my pregnancy," Celine Ng-Chan, the mother told the paper.

Trial participant demands Rs 5 cr from Serum Institute

A Chennai resident, who was a participant in trials for the Covid-19 vaccine being manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, has allegedly suffered serious neurological and psychological symptoms after taking the experimental shots.

A law firm has on his behalf sent a legal notice to SII seeking compensation of Rs 5 crore. The legal notice states that the participant, who is around 40 years old, “must be compensated, in the least, for all the sufferings that he and his family have undergone and are likely to undergo in future”.

Ajay Dake, a student of the Bal Vidya Mandir High School in Parbhani, around 500 km from the state capital Mumbai, sketched the prime minister and sent it to him, not expecting that he would receive a reply. To his surprise, he received a reply and his happiness knew no bounds.
